Symptoms:

  • Mild Cases: Runny nose, cough, sore throat, and fever.

  • Severe Cases: Wheezing, difficulty breathing, and lower respiratory tract infections, particularly in infants, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Prevention Tips:

  • Hand Hygiene: Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • Avoid Face Touching: Refrain from touching your face with unwashed hands.

  • Stay Home if Unwell: Isolate yourself to prevent spreading the virus to others.

  • Respiratory Etiquette: Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.

  • Avoid Sharing Personal Items: Do not share utensils, cups, or towels with others.

Currently, there is no specific antiviral treatment or vaccine for HMPV. Management involves supportive care, such as rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medications to alleviate symptoms. In severe cases, hospitalization may be required.
