Novak Djokovic Signs up for Tournament Early in 2025 Where he Could be in Line to Face Jannik Sinner in the 2025 Qatar Open in Doha

Jannik Sinner & Djokovic will be participating in the 2025 Qatar Open in Doha

It wasn’t the best year of the Serb’s career in 2024 as Djokovic fell to world number seven, failing to win a Major title for the first time since 2017.

He did, however, achieve a lifelong dream this year, as Djokovic won Olympic Gold at the Paris Games, beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

After a tough year, the 37-year-old made a big change this off-season, as Djokovic brought in Andy Murray as his coach, with the former rivals looking to make a big splash in the new year.

Their immediate focus will no doubt be the Australian Open, but the Serb’s schedule for the rest of 2025 is starting to become a lot clearer.

It has just been announced that Djokovic will be participating in the 2025 Qatar Open in Doha.

The event, upgraded from an ATP 250 to an ATP 500 for next year, will begin on February 17 and should play host to several top stars in men’s tennis.

World number one Jannik Sinner has already been confirmed for the event and will be joined by plenty of big names.

World number one – Jannik Sinner
World number five – Daniil Medvedev
World number seven – Novak Djokovic
World number eight – Andrey Rublev

Djokovic has won the title in Doha twice before, back in 2016, and 2017, as he beat Rafael Nadal and Murray in the two respective finals.

His final against new coach Murray in 2017 was an instant classic, as the Serb won in three tight sets.

Karen Khachanov won the tournament in 2024, beating rising star Jakub Mensik in the final, to take home his seventh ATP title.

Who leads the head-to-head between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner?
With Djokovic and Sinner potentially set to face off in Qatar, who has had the better of their exchanges so far on the ATP Tour?

The pair have played one another eight times now, and whilst nothing can split them, it certainly looks like a certain Italian has all the momentum.

The 23-year-old has won their last three encounters, having once trailed 4-1 just over a year ago.

They have played some fantastic matches over the past three years, but their best came at Wimbledon in 2022, as Sinner came tantalizingly close to ending the Serbs four-year unbeaten streak at the event.

Seemingly on the brink, Djokovic miraculously fought back against the young Italian, as he battled through in five sets before taking home his seventh Wimbledon title.

It remains to be seen how Djokovic and Sinner will fare against one another next year, but fans will be hoping to see some more thrilling contests between the pair.

The Australian Open, the first chance to see them both in action, begins on January 12.
