Emma Raducanu Receives Wildcard for Abu Dhabi Open
Britain’s Emma Raducanu has been granted a wildcard into the qualifying draw of the Abu Dhabi Open, marking her first appearance in qualifiers since her historic 2021 US Open title run.
The 22-year-old is currently without a coach following Nick Cavaday’s departure due to health reasons, though she continues to travel with her fitness trainer, Yutaka Nakamura.
Raducanu’s Recent Form & Perspective on Qualifiers
- World No. 56 reached the third round of the Australian Open
- Lost a three-hour battle to Cristina Bucsa in Singapore Open’s first round
- In 2021 US Open, she won 10 consecutive matches (3 in qualifiers, 7 in main draw) without dropping a set
Despite receiving multiple wildcard entries in recent years, Raducanu has been open to competing in qualifiers.
"Playing qualies is not something I am against... It helps adjust to the court and get a better feel for the ball." – Raducanu told BBC Sport last August.
Main Draw Contenders in Abu Dhabi
- Elena Rybakina (World No. 5)
- Paula Badosa (Australian Open semi-finalist)
