Carlos Alcaraz confirms he will play tournament in 2025 for the very first time in his career
Carlos Alcaraz is currently hard at work ahead of the new season, with his 2025 calendar filling up fast.
Alcaraz will return to Queen’s this summer, with the Spaniard the first player to sign up for the tournament.
He will, however, have his focus on plenty of success before then, beginning with the 2025 Australian Open.
Alcaraz has been practising with Matteo Berrettini in Spain, with the pair both looking to make strong starts to the new season.
Melbourne hosts the Australian Open next month, with Alcaraz currently ranked third in the ATP Tour rankings.
Carlos Alcaraz confirms Qatar Open debut
But along with Queen’s, the four-time Grand Slam champion has now committed himself to another tournament in 2025.
Alcaraz will make his Doha debut at the Qatar Open, which takes place at Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in mid-February.
The Spaniard shared his delight at the upcoming competition debut, with Alcaraz writing on his Instagram story “See you soon!”
Tennis fans criticise Carlos Alcaraz as his schedule gets busier
Alcaraz is slowly but surely filling up his calendar, despite complaints from the 21-year-old last season about a hectic schedule.
After a busy 2024 ATP Tour season, he took part in two exhibition matches in New York Charlotte against Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe respectively.
And the Spaniard has already confirmed another meeting with Tiafoe in March next year, this time in Puerto Rico.
Tennis fans have criticised Alcaraz for taking on the event, with injuries likely to arrive with such a packed schedule.
He would certainly be better off focusing on staying as fit and fresh as possible for the major events, with a fifth Grand Slam surely on his agenda in 2025.
Both the ATP and WTA tours came under fire in 2024 for a lack of rest between events, with several players skipping events in order to avoid injury and fatigue.
