Women Ashes: MCG to host its maiden D/N Test

AUSTRALIA HOME SUMMER

For the first time since 1949, the Australian women's team will play a Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the Australian Women's team in a Test match for the first time since 1949 as Cricket Australia announced the schedule for their home summer. Apart from the Ashes involving England, Australia will also host India and New Zealand.

The Test match, part of the multi-format Ashes series, is scheduled to begin on January 30, 2025 and it will also be the first ever D/N Test played at the historic venue. It will also be just the second pink-ball game featuring the two sides following the one in Sydney in 2017.

Prior to the Test match, the two teams will play three ODIs and three T20Is. The first ODI begins on January 12 at the North Sydney Oval with the next two scheduled to be played on January 14 and 17. The T20I series kicks off at the SCG on January 20 and will conclude at the Adelaide Oval on the 25th.

Prior to England's visit, the women's team will also host New Zealand and India. New Zealand will play three T20Is on September 19, 22 and 24. India will then arrive for a three-match ODI series. The first ODI will be played on December 5 at the Allan Border Field and the same venue will host the second game as well on December 8 before the series concludes at the WACA on December 11.
