Islamabad United emerged victorious by five wickets against Karachi Kings, thanks to their stellar bowling effort followed by a composed chase. Islamabad, as a result, jumped up to the second spot and Karachi, meanwhile, were second from bottom; they are two of the four teams who are vying for the three remaining playoff spots.
Opting to field, Islamabad's bowlers, despite missing Naseem Shah, put Karachi under pressure from the onset. Shan Masood's early dismissal set the tone but Karachi's middle order succumbed quickly, leaving them reeling at 49/4.
Kieron Pollard and James Vince's resilient partnership added stability and 58 runs, but Karachi's innings concluded below expectations at 150/7, with the pitch proving challenging. Tymal Mills picked three wickets.
Chasing 151 for victory, Islamabad faced early setbacks, losing both openers within the powerplay. However, Agha Salman and Shadab Khan's 58-run partnership steadied the ship, For a minute, Blessing Muzarabani's breakthrough in the form of Salman led to a momentary hiccup but Haider Ali and Faheem Ashraf showcased nerves of steel to guide Islamabad across the finish line with eight balls to spare.
