Rahim has fractured his thumb.

Bangladesh received a huge blow ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka as Mushfiqur Rahim is ruled out from the series due to a fractured right thumb.

"He (Mushfiqur) is ruled out from the series due to the fracture," a BCB official confirmed Cricbuzz on Tuesday.

It is understood Mushfiqur sustained the injury during the third ODI against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on March 18 and subsequently went for an MRI.

The first Test of the series begins on March 22 in Sylhet while the second game will be played in Chattogram from March 30.

Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka reached Sylhet on Tuesday ahead of the opening Test.

The tourists won the T20I series by 2-1 margin while the hosts clinched the ODI series by 2-1 margin so far before heading for the Test series which is part of the 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship cycle.

BCB is yet to name any replacement for Rahim.
