Hridoy is still uncapped in Tests.
Bangladesh Cricket Board has replaced injured Mushfiqur Rahim with uncapped Towhid Hridoy in the 15-member squad for the opening game of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Mushfiqur was ruled out after injuring his right thumb during the last of the three ODIs.
Towhid, who has played 30 ODIs and 14 T20Is since making his debut in March 2023, has scored 913 runs in 14 first-class games with an average of 48.05. It includes three centuries and four half-centuries with the highest of 217.
The opening Test is scheduled from March 23 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium while the series-concluding last Test will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from March 30.
Towhid is currently playing in the Dhaka Premier League, country's traditional list-A tournament for Abahani Limited and an official of the club told Cricbuzz on Wednesday (March 20) that they are expecting Towhid back in the club after the opening Test if he doesn't not make his debut.
