Australians dominate overseas retention list in The Hundred
THE HUNDRED
The fourth season of The Hundred gets underway on July 23.
The Hundred announced the list of player retention for the 2024 season, with 137 players retained across the men's and women's teams while 75 spots remain to be filled. The key highlight of the overseas retention list is the domination from Australian players across the men's and women's teams. Out of the 16 overseas players retained, nine are from Australia.
As per the tournament rules, the men's teams are allowed to retain up to 10 players - apart from the nominated centrally contracted players in each team - while women's teams can retain 8 players.
Manchester Originals Men, who have Jos Buttler in the team, and Oval Invincibles Men, who have Sam Curran and Adam Zampa in their side, have gone for the maximum retention. London Spirit Men, with Zak Crawley in their setup, have the least retention with 8.
Among the women's teams, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave have filled up their quota of retention while Birmingham Phoenix retained seven, including overseas players Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine.
The likes of Dawid Malan, Jason Roy, Amy Jones and several other international players will be up for grabs when the draft takes place on March 20. The full list of players available for the draft will be revealed on March 4. The fourth season of The Hundred gets underway on July 23.
