New South Wales vs South Australia

After a 78-run stand between Thomas Kelly and Nathan McSweeney - two of the three half-centurions for South Australia on Day 1 - New South Wales hit back with wickets to push the batting side from 128 for 2 to 186 for 6. Ben Manenti scored an undefeated fifty to push South Australia past the 250 run mark at stumps. The quartet of Jack Nisbet, Jack Edwards, Chris Tremain and Chris Green picked two wickets each.

Brief Scores: South Australia 257/8 (Thomas Kelly 54, Nathan McSweeney 53, Ben Manenti 50*; Jack Nisbet 2-43, Jack Edwards 2-52) vs New South Wales

Tasmania vs Victoria

On a day when 17 wickets fell, Victoria found themselves in a queasy position at 81 for 7, in response to Tasmnia's 240. Victoria captain Will Sutherland led the way by winning the toss and then following it up with a five-wicket haul. The likes of Caleb Jewell, Jake Doran and Jarrod Freeman got starts but were quickly sent packing. All the momentum gained by the bowlers was squandered away by the batters as they fell to 81 for 7, with Gabe Bell, Iain Carlisle and Beau Webster picking two wickets apiece.

Brief Scores:Victoria 81/7 (Beau Webster 2-9, Gabe Bell 2-17, Iain Carlisle 2-18) trail Tasmania 240 (Jake Doran 47; Will Sutherland 5-73) by 159 runs

Western Australia vs Queensland

Over at the WACA stadium in Perth, Western Australia finished the opening day's play on 287 for 9. For that, they have Jayden Goodwin and captain Sam Whiteman to thank. Goodwin scored a slow but stroke-filled 115, with 15 fours and a six, off 268 balls, while Whiteman got 79. The duo added 128 runs for the second wicket after Cameron Bancroft was dismissed in the first over by Xavier Bartlett.

Mitchell Swepson, who picked two wickets, broke the stubborn stand while Bartlett went on to complete a fifer to keep the home side down to 287 for 9 despite that strong stand earlier. It could've been much lower if not for Josh Inglis who scored a 47 to push the innings along.
