Virat Kohli delivered another masterclass under pressure, scoring a brilliant unbeaten 105 runs to guide his team to a memorable victory against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

After suffering two consecutive ducks in previous matches, questions had started to rise around Kohli’s output despite looking in good touch throughout the season. However, the star batter answered critics in classic fashion with a calm yet dominant chase that reminded fans why he remains one of the greatest players in modern cricket.

Kohli started aggressively, attacking the bowlers early with crisp boundaries through the leg side and elegant drives on the off side. Although he received an early lifeline when a catch was dropped on 21, he made KKR pay heavily for the missed opportunity.

His innings was not built on reckless power-hitting but on smart cricket. Of his 105 runs, only 62 came through boundaries, while the remaining runs came from constant strike rotation, quick doubles and intelligent placement. Kohli controlled the chase perfectly, ensuring the required run rate never became a problem.

The partnership with Devdutt Padikkal proved crucial as the duo stitched together a vital 92-run stand. While Padikkal played fluently, Kohli anchored the innings and accelerated at the right moments, keeping pressure firmly on the opposition bowlers.

Speaking after the match, Kohli reflected on bouncing back from recent failures and shared his mindset about handling pressure.

“Pressure is a privilege. It keeps you focused, keeps you humble and pushes you to work harder,” Kohli said after receiving the Player of the Match award.

Even at 37, Kohli’s hunger and intensity remain unmatched. His quick running between the wickets, disciplined shot selection and refusal to celebrate before finishing the chase highlighted the competitive spirit that still drives him.

The century was Kohli’s ninth IPL hundred and another reminder that failures only fuel his determination to improve and perform on the biggest stage.
