The prime accused in the Kolkata R G Kar Medical College rape and murder case, Sanjay Roy, claimed outside the court that he is innocent and is being framed by the government.

Roy made the claim three months after a trainee female doctor was brutally raped and murdered in the RG Kar Hospital and Medical College in Kolkata.

“I have been intimidated and framed. I told the judge that I am innocent, but I was taken away.

The government is framing me and threatening me not to open my mouth I am being framed to protect the real culprits,” Sanjay Roy screamed from a police jeep after being presented in a West Bengal court on Monday.

He was arrested a day after the body of a junior doctor was found in the seminar hall of the hospital.

Trial begins on Nov 11
Earlier on Monday, charges were framed against Roy under the BNS sections 103(2), 64, 66.

The trial will begin on November 11.

According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheet, Roy is the sole accused in the case, stating that he allegedly committed the crime when the victim had gone to sleep in the hall during her break.

After his arrest, Roy was also made to undergo a polygraph test.

The case is also being heard in the Supreme Court, which took suo moto cognisance as the protests by junior doctors over the incident spread across the nation.

The incident led to massive protests in the country by Bengal's junior doctors.

Last week, many junior doctors held a rally outside the CBI office in Kolkata, appealing for speedy justice.

Moreover, the doctors have also organised a ‘cease work’ agitation across the state and refused to continue work until their demands are met.
