The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said on Sunday (Oct 27) that three Hezbollah commanders were killed in southern Lebanon.
"The Commander of Hezbollah’s Bint Jbeil Area, Ahmed Jafar Maatouk, was eliminated in an IAF strike.
A day later, the IAF also eliminated his successor and Hezbollah's head of artillery in the Bint Jbeil area," stated the IDF.
The IDF added that "these three terrorists directed and carried out numerous terrorist attacks from the Bint Jbeil area, including launching anti-tank missiles toward Israeli civilians and IDF troops operating in southern Lebanon.”
According to Israel, these commanders had carried out multiple attacks in the Bint Jbeil area, targeting both civilians and military personnel with anti-tank missiles.
Following recent airstrikes on Iranian targets, Israel also intensified its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon on Sunday.
As per an AFP report, the Israeli military announced it had killed 70 Hezbollah fighters, struck 120 targets in southern Lebanon, and conducted "precision strikes" on weapons manufacturing and storage sites in southern Beirut, Hezbollah's stronghold.
Since September 23, the ongoing conflict has resulted in at least 1,615 deaths in Lebanon, according to AFP's tally based on official data, although the true figure may be higher due to incomplete information.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah confirmed it had launched rockets at a military base in northern Israel on Sunday.
This came a day after the group declared parts of the area "legitimate targets" due to Israeli military presence.
The Iran-backed organisation claimed it had fired a "large rocket salvo" at a "military industries base north of Haifa," following an evacuation warning it issued on Saturday for wide areas in northern Israel.
