The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said Thursday (Oct 10) they struck and killed two Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon.

One of the commanders is identified as Ahmad Mustaga Alhaj Ali, who was responsible for the firing of hundreds of rockets and anti-tank missiles at the city of Kiryat Shmona.

The other commander was Muhammad Ali Hamdan, commander of the anti-tank corps in Meiss Ej Jabal.

Hamdan, as per IDF claims, played a key role in several attacks on northern communities in Israel.

IDF added they also targeted a massive weapons cache in Oct 9 strikes on southern Lebanon and the capital Beirut.

The Israeli Army said it took several steps to limit harm to civilians.

US sees opportunity in Lebanon
Amid Israel's offensive against Hezbollah, the US is looking for opportunities to push the group completely out of the country's politics, reported Wall Street Journal.

According to the report, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been in touch with Arab allies to appoint a new president in the country.

It must be noted that Lebanon has been without a president since 2022 amid a failure by the country’s factions to reach an agreement on a candidate.
