India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav could face a tough time in the coming days after he got injured in the Buchi Babu Trophy (domestic competition in India) on Friday (Aug 30). The extent of Suryakumar’s injury is still unknown but it will come as a scare for the Indian team who are set to face Bangladesh and South Africa in the coming days. On the other hand, it was a poor day at the office for Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan with the bat in the competition.

Playing for Mumbai, Surya got injured in the humiliating 286-run defeat as Tamil Nadu got the better of them. While fielding at slips on Day 3 he dived to save a ball however he got injured in the process raising fears in the camp. Surya has been in impressive form for the Indian team in the T20I and will now face a race against time to be fit for the next two months.
On the flip side, Shreyas and Sarafraz were also poor with the bat and failed to make their mark in the defeat.

In the coming days India will take on Australia in the five-match Test series which starts on November 22 with Rohit Sharma and Co keeping an eye on the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. Both India and Australia occupy the top two spots in the standings and will therefore look to cement their place in next year’s final which takes place in England.
