Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was honoured with a special Champions League all-time leading goal-scorer award by the UEFA
He received the special award by UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin for his remarkable achievements and enduring legacy in the European club football. Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr striker, was handed the special award during the inaugural 2024/25 UEFA Champions League 36-team league phase draw ceremony, which was held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Thursday.
Ronaldo has had an incredible run in the Champions League history. With more than 18 years, the 39-year-old superstar has scored as many as 140 goals, in 183 appearances, which adds to his legendary status. His overall appearances have come across spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, leaving a mark in the competition with every club he has represented.
Notably, Ronaldo became the first player to score in three finals, displaying his ability to perform under pressure. Additionally, his feat of scoring in as many as 11 consecutive Champions League matches is a record that would take some doing to be broken.
