US President elect Donald Trump has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin against escalating the Ukraine war, emphasising "Washington's sizeable military presence in Europe."

Trump also spoke with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, agreeing to work towards peace in Europe amid rising tensions.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has suspended all train operations to and from Quetta railway station after a deadly terrorist attack claimed 26 lives and injured 62.

US President elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin recently engaged in their first post election call, according to reports.

According to a Washington Post report citing sources familiar with the conversation, on Thursday (Nov 7), the two leaders discussed the war in Ukraine and also touched on the goal of achieving peace in Europe.

Russia and Ukraine both launched an unprecedented exchange of drone attacks overnight despite a recent call between US president elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin over de-escalation.

Germany Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke to the US President elect on Sunday by phone and “agreed to work towards a return to peace in Europe,” chancellor’s spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit said in a brief statement.

Pakistan Railways have temporarily suspended all train operations to and from the Quetta station in the aftermath of the deadly blast at Quetta station that claimed 26 lives and injured 62 on Saturday (Nov 9).

The suspension will be in effect for five days and aims to ensure passenger safety amid heightened concerns.
