India spinner Ravi Ashwin has revealed that new head coach Gautam Gambhir is very relaxed in his approach while his predecessor Rahul Dravid was more 'regimented.'
The statement comes after India won their first Test under Gambhir's coaching, beating Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first of two Tests.
"I think he (Gambhir) is very relaxed. There is nothing at all.
In the morning, in the huddle. 'Are you coming?' Like that," Ashwin shared on his YouTube channel.
"Rahul Bhai is like, we will come. As soon as we come, the bottles should be in a place.
He is very regimented. He is like, everything should be in order, according to him.
He has a relaxed order. I feel that he captures the minds of the people.
He loves the boys. He is not only relaxed," the spinner added.
Before the Bangladesh Tests, Gambhir had a mixed start to his coaching regime as India won the three-T20I series against Sri Lanka 3-0 but lost the ODI series 2-0.
Ashwin, who came back in the squad for the Test series, played a pivotal role with both bat and ball.
The spinner scored 113 runs in the first innings and took a six-for in the second innings.
Ashwin also lauded the pitch in Chennai - his home ground - and asked the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for similar pitches in the upcoming domestic Ranji Trophy as well.
"Easily one of the best cricket pitches I have played in India for a while. Awesome pitch and I really hope Tamil Nadu play Ranji Trophy on such pitches.
The way they have laid the pitch, they should take it to the next level.
Outstanding Test match wicket," said the offie.
The second Test against Bangladesh will start in Kanpur from September 27.
