Madushanka sidelined with hamstring injury
INJURY SETBACK
Madushanka will not play the final ODI.
Dilshan Madushanka has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and hence won't play further part in the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed on Sunday (March 17). The series is tied 1-1 currently with the final ODI set to be played on Monday in Chattogram.
The left-arm seamer bowled 6.4 overs in the second ODI before leaving the field. "Dilshan Madushanka will not further take part in the ongoing tour as the bowler will return to start rehabilitation work after suffering an injury during the 2nd ODI," SLC said in a statement. "Madushanka, who left the field during the second ODI while bowling, has suffered a left hamstring injury, as confirmed by an MRI scan performed on the player."
While it is not yet known how long the pacer would remain on the sidelines, he might not be available for the initial stages of the IPL, scheduled to begin next week. Madushanka was bought for INR 4.6 Cr by Mumbai Indians in the auction following his impressive performances in the ODI World Cup last year in which he picked up 21 wickets in 9 games.
