India and Australia Gear up for the Opening Test in the Five-Match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Travis Head Warned about the Terrifying Nature of the Perth Pitch

BGT 2024/25 Travis Head worried about TERRIFYING Perth pitch, says 'it can be challenging'

As India and Australia gear up for the opening Test in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Travis Head warned about the terrifying nature of the Perth pitch.

Both India and Australia are set to lock horns at the Optus Stadium in Western Australia from Friday (Nov 22) as Head opened up on the nature of the pitch which could be challenging after Day 3 of the contest.

According to the Aussie southpaw, batters could find it difficult to score runs if it starts having cracks.

"There are parts of this wicket that can be terrifying, simple as that.

I think everyone's talked about that. Depending on where the wicket goes to on day three, four and five, it can be challenging,” Head said while speaking to the Unplayable Podcast.

Having been India’s nightmare in the last two years, Head averages 40 at the venue and was one run short of a century against West Indies here two summers ago.

In 2023, Head twice came to rock Team India having scored 137 in the ODI World Cup final on Nov 19 and amassing 163 in the first innings of the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

The batter also supported Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision to skip the Perth Test for paternity leave.

Rohit will land in Australia ahead of the Adelaide Test having been blessed with a baby boy over the weekend.
